Characters

Nishi-san
Nishi-san
He is an orthodox hot springs lover and particular about quality of springs. He loves the hot springs flowing from the source, the hot water with a presence, and the rustic atmosphere.
Kita-san
Kita-san
He doesn't care much about quality of hot springs. He loves the open-air bath, and prefers hot springs that have visible features such as good views.

"The Seven Deities of Good Fortune" bathhouses tour in Ito Onsen [the 6th bath]

(→ Continuation from the 5th bath, Yukawa Bentennoyu. The 1st bath is Ebisu Arainoyu.)
Nishi-san and Kita-san are visiting the bathhouses of the Seven Deities of Good Fortune in Ito Onsen today. They're heading to "Kamata Fukurokujunoyu", a 5 or 6-minute walk from Minami Ito Station next to Ito Station.

Exterior

Kamatayu should be close to the station.

Got it ... Uh ... I'm pretty tired ...

Then, let's take a bath and get rid of fatigue.

No, I don't mean like that, I mean, I'm thirsty and want to drink beers ...

Oh, Kamatayu! Here we are!

For Ito sightseeing with route buses, Tokai Bus' "Ito sightseeing freely ticket" may be reasonable. (Getting on and off freely within the area.
Adults: ¥ 1,300 / Children: ¥ 650)

Fukurokuju statue

The Fukurokuju statue welcomes them. They go through the entrance at once. At an undressing room.

Undressing room

Ah, yeah, it's so communal bathhouse.

It's also old but clean here. I feel bad if it's a dirty bathhouse, but this is clean and OK.

They get into the bathing room. The green tiles on the walls and the high ceiling combine to create a relaxed atmosphere. The bathtub is in the center, and the washing area is lined up along the wall.

Bathtub

Oh, beautiful green, this tiles.

Hmm, it's so simple. It only has the bare minimum facilities ...

Well, I don't care about the facilities as long as the water is good. And, the water is ... yeah, nice.

Ah, right, good hot water.

The hot water doesn't have much features, but can be relieved.

But, it's quiet ...

True. I feel very relaxed ...

Nishi-san and Kita-san have got out of the bath.

Now, next the last, let's walk to Oka Hoteinoyu.

Walk? Seriously? Not far?

It's just halfway between Ito Station and Minami Ito Station. There may be buses, but it's probably just only 10 minutes walking.

Today we've visited enough baths, so we're going to round it up, and the rest is ...

No, no, we've been going around six bathhouses so far, you know. There's only one more. We've come this far, so have to complete it!

Gee, I'm SO tired ...

If it's football, it's now the 30th minute of the second half. In other words, now is the time to work hard. Let's go!

Why do I have to work hard for taking a bath ... Hey, wait a minute!

That's why, the rest of the Seven Deities of Good Fortune is only Hotei. To complete the all, They head to Oka Hoteinoyu. In addition, it actually takes about 20 minutes to walk from Kamata Fukurokujunoyu to Oka Hoteinoyu. (→ Continue to the 7th bath, Oka Hoteinoyu)

(June 2015)

Fukurokuju is the deity of wisdom, luck, and longevity. The temple associated with Fukurokuju is Rinsenji. It has a wisteria tree of the prefecture designated natural monument.
