Cars of JR Kururi Line

JR Kururi Line car

Now, today, Nishi-san and Kita-san have decided to visit to a hot spring in Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture. It's about an hour they have been getting on the JR Kururi Line from Kisarazu Station. The destination is "Nomizo-onsen Senjunoyu", which is further ahead of Kazusa Kameyama Station that is the last stop.

Senjunoyu exterior

Exterior (Restaurant)

Well, we've arrived ... but it looks like a rest stop often found in the countryside.

Hmm ... I see what you mean. But the hot spring must be good.

Really? Isn't that something rusty?

No, surprisingly such a place is a good hot water ... maybe.

Kururi Line cars are painted colorfully.

Senjunoyu exterior

Exterior

Passing beside the restaurant, the building at the back is today's onsen "Senjunoyu".

Oh, the inside is more beautiful than its exterior. I'm relieved.

Well, the bathing room is this. Small building, isn't it.

At once, the two enter the bathing room.

Senjunoyu bathtub

Bathtub

Wow! Small! And the steam is amazing.

Huh, it smells good. It's a good feeling.

Senjunoyu has only an indoor bath. The washing area is in the near side, and the bathtub is in the back. There is large window behind them.

Senjunoyu the hot water spout

The hot water spout

Yeah, it's soft and good water.

A little brown-yellowish? And it has garbage ... no, it has yunohana, you know.

That's Flowing from the Source. Oh, fine bubbles are there, too! This is a good hot spring as I heard.

Senjunoyu, a river under the window

A river under the window

But after all this bathing room is small. It feels a little oppressive, doesn't it? I wanted them to make the room and bathtub bigger.

Perhaps, onsen may not spring out much. Actually, with circulating, you can make a bigger bath. But then, the goodness of this water will be lost.

Senjunoyu, The hot water spout and wooden gutter

The hot water spout and wooden gutter

Got it. Then, this wooden gutter is a cutting edge technology for it?

Hahaha, that's right. In short, it works to hand out fresh hot water whole the bathtub.

Come to think of it, many hot springs often have special seats around the hot water spout. But this is fair.

It feels like using the source carefully, doesn't it?

And in summer, you can use this to have Nagashi Somen.

Cannot do it! ... Ah, but it might be nice to have Nagashi Somen and getting in onsen the same time ...

I know, right?! If you put dry noodles into the hot water spout, it will be boiled up in the time flowing. Oh! it's perfect!

Where do you cool it?

Well, ... at the washing area, stirring in water ...

Your idea has room for improvement.

Senjunoyu break room

Nishi-san and Kita-san, who came up with an unique using of wooden gutter, had thoroughly enjoyed Senjunoyu. Next, to have lunch & hot spring, they head for "Kosuitei Sagawa", which stands on the shores of Lake Kameyama. (→ Continue to Kosuitei Sagawa)

(March 2014)

There is a wooden gutter along the edge of the bathtub, and it has several holes. With this, hot water is supplied to various parts of the bathtub.

Impression & rating

Soft hot water with fine bubbles and yunohana. It's a recommended hot water, but I don't want it to be famous, because the small amount of its source.

Impression & rating

It's good that rivers can be seen through large window. But it's a little small and there is only one indoor bath, so it may be lack of interesting.

Today's Detour

Nomizo Falls

Nomizo Falls

(Kameiwa Cave in Shimiuzu Keiryu Hiroba)

It is located in the deepest part of Shimiuzu Keiryu Hiroba close to Senjunoyu. About 350 years ago, Farmers digged a tunnel and made a winding river shortcut to increase farmland. As a result, a sight with a waterfall in the tunnel was created.

Depending on sunlight or timing, you may be able to see a mysterious sight. (But beware of leechs when going down to the riverside.)
