Tamagawa-onsen

Tamagawa-onsen

1038-1, Tamagawa, Kai City, Yamanashi Pref.

Flood!? The water pipe is broken!? Torrent that make you think so. In back it is a golden-colored bathtub that has onsen flowing from the source.

Tamagawa-onsen bathtub
Tamagawa-onsen exterior Tamagawa-onsen hot water spout Tamagawa-onsen, water overflowing from tub

The hot water flowing from the source is been pouring in full flood. The overflowing water is flowing the bathing room floor like a river.

Hot spring is a moor spring that is common in Kofu Basin. Hot water with bubbles and fresh iron smell gives a smooth feeling and a refreshing after bath feeling.

Perhaps because it is located in a slightly confusing place outside the city, it is relatively empty and you can enjoy the hot water as much as you want.

  • The price of JR Express is "Base fare" plus "Express charge". (These are determined according to the distance.) In case of JR Express on Chuo Line, "Express charge" has two types: "Reserved seat" and "Undecided seat". Both have the same charge, which do not change depending on the season. However, the price will vary depending on where you buy. (Internet < Station < Inside the car). If you have an "Undecided seat" ticket, you can sit in any vacant seat, but you have no priority. So, if someone comes who has a "Reserved seat" ticket for the seat you are sitting, you have to give up the seat to him / her.
  • On the JR Minobu Line, you cannot use the IC card tickets such as Suica, PASMO and so on.
  • Kai City Bus from Ryuo Station to Tamagawa Danchi Nishi Bus Stop is "Yamanashi Kotsu Shikishima Office - JR Ryuo Station South Exit - University of Yamanashi Hospital Line" and runs from Monday to Friday.

Travel journal of day trip bathing to hot spring

Characters

Nishi-san
Nishi-san
He is an orthodox hot springs lover and particular about quality of springs. He loves the hot springs flowing from the source, the hot water with a presence, and the rustic atmosphere.
Kita-san
Kita-san
He doesn't care much about quality of hot springs. He loves the open-air bath, and prefers hot springs that have visible features such as good views.

Nishi-san and Kita-san have come to visit the hot springs in Kai City, next to Kofu City. First they head to "Tamagawa-onsen".

Tamagawa-onsen signboard

Signboard

It's in a rice field.

I don't feel like there is a hot spring ... Oh, signboard there.

It says flowing like a waterfall.

Gee, waterfall ... Oh, it looks like we've arrived.

Tamagawa-onsen exterior

Exterior

They've arrived at Tamagawa-onsen. Kita-san takes off his clothes at the undressing room and tries to enter the bathing room first. When he open the bathing room door, ...

What's this!!!

Are you MATSUDA Yusaku?

Come here and see!

What's this!!!

Tamagawa-onsen bathing room

Bathing room

Hot water overflowing from the bathtub flows all over the floor of the bathing room, just like a river.

What a hell! It's rushing!

That's a lot of water. It's exciting, or wasteful?

It was not too exaggerated to say that like a waterfall ...

Tamagawa-onsen bathtub

Large bathtub (flowing from the source)

Nishi-san and Kita-san walk carefully so as not to get caught in the flow of hot water and head toward the larger bathtub. The time is just when sunlight comes in from the window.

Oh, it's a beautiful bathtub ...

Is it because of the light? The water glows golden, you know.

See "Bark at the Sun!"

It's because of the light, but it looks like the water itself is a little brownish.

The temperature is ... yes, it's just right.

I guess the hot water also smells of sulfur ... and irony. This is nice ...

Tamagawa-onsen hot water spout

Hot water spout

Hey, it has fine bubbles, isn't it? Around the spout ...

Oh, true! Boy, the level is high.

What's this small tub? Something whitish, like a carbonated bath.

Tamagawa-onsen whirlpool

Small bathtub (whirlpool)

The smaller bathtub is actually not a carbonated bath, a whirlpool. But it is a hot water that contains considerable air bubbles due to the power of the stream.

But this huge flowing is really amazing. Without any customers, it's so luxurious in the situation like a reserved ...

Speaking of greed, I wish it had a good view of an open-air bath.

Because there is no open-air bath, there may not be many customers.

The light of the afternoon shining through the window was sparkling the hot water of the bathtub and the rising steam. (→ Continue to Yamaguchi-onsen)

Impression & rating

The hot water is fresh with a large amount of water flowing from the source. And the hot water itself has a strong presence. Great hot spring.

Impression & rating

There is a feeling of of blockage just by the indoor bath, but the hot water flowing down the bathing room floor has a considerable impact.
