  • The price of JR Express is "Base fare" plus "Express charge". (These are determined according to the distance.) In case of JR Express on Chuo Line, "Express charge" has two types: "Reserved seat" and "Undecided seat". Both have the same charge, which do not change depending on the season. However, the price will vary depending on where you buy. (Internet < Station < Inside the car). If you have an "Undecided seat" ticket, you can sit in any vacant seat, but you have no priority. So, if someone comes who has a "Reserved seat" ticket for the seat you are sitting, you have to give up the seat to him / her.

Travel journal of day trip bathing to hot spring

Characters

Nishi-san
Nishi-san
He is an orthodox hot springs lover and particular about quality of springs. He loves the hot springs flowing from the source, the hot water with a presence, and the rustic atmosphere.
Kita-san
Kita-san
He doesn't care much about quality of hot springs. He loves the open-air bath, and prefers hot springs that have visible features such as good views.

(→ Continuation from Tamagawa-onsen)
Nishi-san and Kita-san, who are visiting in Kai City located on the western of Kofu Basin, head to Yamaguchi-onsen after Tamagawa-onsen. The two go to Ryuo Station by JR, and they walk to Yamaguchi-onsen from there.

It's hot ... We walked quite a bit, but is Yamaguchi-onsen still far away?

I think it should be close ... Oh, there was a Seven-Eleven store. I think it's just after turning right.

I'm getting thirsty, so let's buy something cold to drink at the Seven-Eleven. Hydration.

Nishi-san and Kita-san head to Yamaguchi-onsen on the road between the fields and the houses, while drinking soda bought at the convenience store.

Yamaguchi-onsen exterior

Exterior

Oh, this is Yamaguchi-onsen. Here we are.

It's hard to find this onsen too. Are hot springs in this area made so that travelers can't find it?

Basically, they are for regulars. At least it's definitely not for tourists.

Well, It's better than a high price for tourists.

The two have come to the entrance of Yamaguchi-onsen.

Oh? It says, children's bathing starts at 6:00 pm. Only adults during the day.

What? Kids are not allowed at night?

No, the opposite. It seems not available before 6 o'clock and OK after 6 o'clock.

Hmm, I don't understand the rule. Anyway, it's before 6 o'clock now, so no children, right?

At Yamaguchi-onsen, there is an indoor bath next to the undressing room and an open-air bath in the back of the undressing room. First, Nishi-san and Kita-san go to the indoor bath.

Indoor bath

Boy, it's a pretty good atmosphere.

It's a rock tub. That's good ... What? It looks like the water is cloudy white in some places ...

Wow! It has fine bubbles and cloudy! It's amazing fine bubbles!

Oh, really! The amount of fine bubbles is great!

Yamaguchi-onsen bathtub and washing area

Bathtub and washing area

There are more bubbles in front side of the bathtub. It seems that new water comes to this side in the flow of water.

The part that looks cloudy white is fresh water. I see, it's easy to tell.

The water feels a little slimy. This is a nice hot spring, isn't it.

Because there is such a good hot spring in the city, Kofu is a great place.

Yamaguchi-onsen hot water spout

Hot water spout

There's a cup at the spout. In short, it looks like you can drink the water here. Onsen that has drinkable water is always nice.

You can drink the carbonated water unlimitedly ... It should be better to drink the water here instead of buying a carbonated drink at the convenience store?

How about if you put the water here in an empty plastic bottle?

Oh, that's good.

Next, Nishi-san and Kita-san go to the open-air bath.

Yamaguchi-onsen open-air bath

Open-air bath

The bottom of the bathtub is green. Does the water around here has any ingredients that turn green?

Yeah, could be ... Oh? The water is a little dirty .... After all, as freshness of water, I guess it's the best the around the spout in the indoor bath.

No, After all, an open-air bath is nice! It's the best that soaking in lukewarm water with the outside air and the sunlight!

Well, exacly, it's a shame that this hot spring doesn't take long.

That's why Nishi-san and Kita-san enjoyed taking a long bath in the lukewarm water of Yamaguchi-onsen.

(May 2015)

The location of Yamaguchi-onsen is not Kofu City but Kai City. For tourists who are not Yamanashi residents, this is a bit confusing.

Impression & rating

Drinking onsen water is available, and abundant hot water is flowing from the source. It is a wonderful hot spring where you can enjoy the highest level of fine bubbles.

Impression & rating

Although in the city, it is great that it has an open-air bath. A hot spring that is very satisfying because it has lukewarm water and a large amount of fine bubbles.
