Travel journal of day trip bathing to hot spring
Characters
- Nishi-san
- He is an orthodox hot springs lover and particular about quality of springs. He loves the hot springs flowing from the source, the hot water with a presence, and the rustic atmosphere.
- Kita-san
- He doesn't care much about quality of hot springs. He loves the open-air bath, and prefers hot springs that have visible features such as good views.
Today, Nishi-san and Kita-san were talking about wanting to go to a rare hot spring. And, they remembered that Kuki would have had an onsen facility that would allow them to get in a "sand bath". So at once, the two jumped on JR Utsunomiya Line and got off at Kuki Station. Then, they have started walking to head for "Morinoseseragi Nagomi".
By the way, is sand bath famous for Kagoshima?
Ah, Ibusuki.
A sand bath is rare in the Kanto Region. Is it anywhere else?
I think it must be at Shirako Onsen in Boso, but what else ...
Lantern shop "Nishitani"
By the way, I came to Kuki for the first time, there are wonderful buildings here and there. For example, an old-fashioned warehouse ... Oh, Here is a lantern shop!
It's really. Can you make original lanterns there?
♨ The lantern shop "Nishitani" seems to have been in business in 1897.
Exterior
Walking along the road for a while, and soon they arrived at Morinoseseragi Nagomi. To enter the sand bath, you should make a reservation of the time at the first reception.
What time we'll get in?
At first a normal hot spring lightly, and then let's get in a sand bath.
That's why Nishi-san and Kita-san booked a sand bath 20 minutes later. The bathing room is just past in the restaurant from the entrance. At the restaurant, the stairs to the second floor jump into your eyes.
♨ Information sign of Morinoseseragi Nagomi
Stairs with Torii (Shrine gate)
It's like a tasteless interior, you know. How is this vermilion stairs?
In short, it's a kind of Super Sento. But you can say that's it Saitama-ish.
Nishi-san and Kita-san decided to try the indoor bath first.
Indoor bath
Phew, it smells of wood.
Forest murmuring, that's why. Well, the smell of wood like this is not bad.
The water just looks kind of greenish, too.
Besides the color, this onsen water flowing from the source is pretty good. It's so fresh. You can't take it lightly if it's like a Super Sento.
Shiogama sauna (Mist sauna)
There is something called Shiogama sauna, you know. Let's get into what it looks like.
We're gonna take a sand bath, so why not leave it behind?
Well, just looking ...
♨
"Sento" is a bathhouse run by a personal business or a micro enterprise.
"Super Sento" is a large scale and commercial bath facility like a spa.
After a while, Kita-san entered the Shiogama sauna, it was time for the sand bath. They go through the open-air bath to the sand bath.
Sand bath
Oh, it's a sandbox.
It's pretty humid. I'm lying down here.
Customers lie on their backs and facility staff pours sand on them. The customer stays still for 20 minutes.(20 minutes is standard.)
The sand is quite heavy. It's like sleep paralysis.
Yeah, it's really heavy, and getting hotter.
5 minutes have passed.
Oh, I feel stifling ...
So early. Still 5 minutes. Or get out now?
No, no, since we've try it, until the end ...
♨ It seems to be the same as the sand used for casting molds, and the sand particle is quite large.
Sand bath
10 minutes have passed.
How is it?
... 's so hard ...
After the Shiogama sauna, so why not?
... I took the sand bath lightly ...
15 minutes have passed.
Just 5 minutes left ... I'm getting stuffy. It looks like it's going to have a pretty good detox effect ... how about that?
♨ When you feel so stuffy, it is better to reach out and move your body a little without overdoing it.
... hee, hee, foo ... hee, hee, foo ...
Are you a pregnant woman?
20 minutes have passed. Finally, they are released from the sand bath and go to the break room to drink the water.
What a good taste this water! I can drink as much as I want!
Exactly. It feels like water has been absorbed into the sand. But it feels like I'm lighter.
After the sand bath, they got into all bathtubs in the open-air bath area. (such as an octagonal bathtub, a pot bathtub, a scent bath, and a cave bath)
♨ It seems to be the Lamaze method.
Open-air bath (Octagonal bathtub)
There are many rare bathtubs, and it's so interesting. Isn't it nice to refresh your mind?
It would be nice if you get tired of a normal hot spring.
Scent bath
This is a scent bath. Is it something aroma-like?
Well, that's right. It must be something aroma-like.
♨ By the way, the scent bath of this day was "Rosemary".
Cave bath
There are also cave bath ... Wow! It's a bit of an exploration, you know. Boy! The inside is like this .... If children, it would be a big joy.
You're enjoying enough too.
So, Nishi-san and Kita-san, who enjoyed Morinoseseragi Nagomi, were refreshed. It became a fulfilling day for them in the soft sunlight of early spring.
