- The price of JR Express is "Base fare" plus "Express charge".
(These are determined according to the distance.)
In case of JR Express on Chuo Line, "Express charge" has two types: "Reserved seat" and "Undecided seat".
Both have the same charge, which is no difference depending on the season.
However, the price will vary depending on where you buy. (Internet < Station < Inside the car).
If you have an "Undecided seat" ticket, you can sit in any vacant seat, but you have no priority. So, if someone comes who has a "Reserved seat" ticket for the seat you are sitting, you have to give it up to him/her. - Be careful of the time as the bus only has 3 round trips a day.
- There is a hot spring called "Fruit SPA PukuPuku" near Fruits Center Bus Stop. The address is "2589-13, Daiku, Yamanashi City, Yamanashi Prefecture". Some car navigation systems do not recognize the address of Hottarakashi-onsen. So if you drive and use a car navigation system, it may be better to put this onsen's address in at the destination first.
- The above fares are based on cash. When using an IC card, the fares may differ slightly.
- The above times and distances are approximate. Does not include transfering or waiting times.
How to get to Hottarakashi-onsen from Yamanashi-shi Sta.
After leaving Yamanashi-shi Station, follow the road in front of the station to the left and cross the bridge. Go straight at the "Nishikanto Road Entrance" intersection and turn right at the next "Fruit Park Entrance" intersection. (After turning right, the road is almost uphill.)
Going up for a while, then there is an intersection with no traffic light. (Point of A on the map)
A An intersection without traffic light
(The front is a steep road)
A At this intersection, turn right or go straight on foot. (If you are driving a car, you must turn right.) A right turn is a long distance and the slope is gentle. On the other hand, a straight uphill is a short distance and steep. (A→E average gradient: 14.7%) In the case of a right turn, you will go in the order of A→B→C→D→E on the map.
B The entrance of the outdoor stage area (Parking lot No.2) of Fuefukigawa Fruit Park. If you are driving, go straight. On foot, you can also get into the Fruit Park from here and take a walk in the park. In addition, there is a stop of "Road Train" near this entrance of the park, so it's not bad to get on it.
C The entrance of Fuefukigawa Fruit Park (Turn left here)
C Whether on foot or by car, turn left at this entrance of Fuefukigawa Fruit Park and get into the park. (This is the most important point of this route.) Pass the parking lot and follow the road in the park.
D Fruits Center Bus Stop. If you come by bus, get off here. The plaza here has a good view and it's just good for a break.
E The roads merge at E whether you go straight on or turn right at A. In case of walking a steep straight road from A to E, if you keep walking on the paved road, you will never get lost.
On the A to E straight route, the place some people may get lost. (Right is right.)
F Go along the road from E. There are plenty of flags of Hottarakashi-onsen so you won't get lost.

Travel journal of day trip bathing to hot spring
Characters
- Nishi-san
- He is an orthodox hot springs lover and particular about quality of springs. He loves the hot springs flowing from the source, the hot water with a presence, and the rustic atmosphere.
- Kita-san
- He doesn't care much about quality of hot springs. He loves the open-air bath, and prefers hot springs that have visible features such as good views.
Today's hot spring is "Hottarakashi-onsen". Take the bus from Yamanashi-shi Station to the Fruits Center Bus Stop, and then walk for another 25 minutes to arrive at Hottarakashi-onsen.
Exterior (break room)
Finally arrived!
It's a bit of climbing.
Well, a spacious place, you know.
Oh, there's an information board.
Hottarakashi-onsen has two baths, "This Bath" and "That Bath".
Information board
Ok, ok. This is That Bath, and that is This Bath.
No, That is That Bath, and this is This Bath.
No, I said that is This Bath, because This Bath is that side, and That Bath is this, so this is That Bath that is this and that is This Bath that is that ...
First, let's go to This Bath.
Sounds good.
That's why, in This Bath.
This Bath open-air bath
The first thing you'll notice is the open-air bathtub that is made of logs, divided into hot and lukewarm water.
Wow! What a good view! That's Mt. Fuji!
Really good view! We're lucky so that the weather is nice.
The sun is dazzling because no shade.
♨ Fruits Center Bus Stop is located at the highest point of Fuefukigawa Fruit Park. The bus stop is in front of the plaza, and it has a so good view. It has also a footbath.
Footbath
♨ This Bath and That Bath are charged separately.
There is a rocky open-air bath just below.
This Bath open-air bath
Speaking of open-air bath preferences, I prefer rock tubs, but the upper one has a better view.
Exactly. In the lower, The grass is blocking the view.
There is also a indoor bath.
This Bath indoor bath
It's a bit small.
Well, in short, few people who come here and get in the indoor bath.
Everybody will get in if the weather is bad, you know.
If the weather is bad, nobody will come here.
That's right.
And then, Nishi-san and Kita-san returned to the open-air bath, and came out after enjoying the view of This Bath. Take a break outside and next is That Bath. To go to That Bath, they go down the stairs.
Stairs to That Bath
It's like a temporary staircase.
But, this is finished.
Well, this may be interesting with this.
In short, the handmade feeling is a feature here.
That Bath open-air bath
That Bath is similar to This Bath, That Bath has an indoor bath and an open-air bath. And the open-air bath is divided into an upper side and a lower side. However, That Bath has about twice the scale of This Bath.
Oh, even more spacious! Mt. Fuji well looking too, it's the best!
You can say that again! The scenery is perfect!
Nishi-san and Kita-san also enjoy the hot water and the scenery while going back and forth between the upper and lower open-air baths.
That Bath open-air bath
Well, I don't want to go back anymore ... By the way, what time is the return bus?
5 o'clock. In front of the Fruits Center.
It's another 10 minutes, you know.
... True ... It's too late ...
...
...
Well, it's OK Walking to the station.
Why not?
Mt. Fuji in the dusk
That's why Nishi-san and Kita-san enjoyed Hottarakashi-onsen until the sun set.
(September 2011)
♨ Sun shades are provided.
